Climbing with Mary on Mount Carmel

In Haifa, a coastal city of northern Israel, the second Sunday after Easter is a day dedicated to Mary. While not a liturgical date, this is a significant celebration for the Christian presence in this area.

A crowd of worshipers started at the Latin parish of St. Joseph and walked, carrying the image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The procession that crowds the streets of Haifa has been taking place for nearly 100 years. The destination of the three-hour walk is Mount Carmel, that recalls a very important victory, which occurred at the end of the First World War.
