The Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land has been in the news quite a bit recently. As we continue to work to foster awareness of the plight of Christians in the Holy Land, we are grateful for these opportunities to share our message.

Education Highlighted in Catholic New York

Beth Griffin of Catholic New York Archdiocesan newspaper interviewed Fr. Vasko during his recent apostolic visit. The article, titled, “Education Called Best Hope for Christians in the Holy Land,” explores the Foundation’s support of education in the Holy Land, where the government has decreased state support for Catholic schools from 60% to only 30%.

Denise Marie Scalzo on the Son Rise Morning Show

FFHL Vice President, Denise Marie Scalzo, appeared on EWTN’s Son Rise Morning Show in early October. She shared the 800-year history of Franciscans in the Holy Land, and described the plight of Christians in the Holy Land.

Canadian Magazine Promotes Awareness of Christian Exodus from Holy Land

Reaching an audience that might otherwise be unaware of the work of the FFHL, Christian Week, an online Canadian magazine, featured an exclusive story on the flood of Christians leaving the Holy Land.

 

North Texas Catholic Highlights Destruction in Syria, Hope in Palestine

Joan Kurkowski-Gillen of North Texas Catholic interviewed FFHL President, Fr. Peter Vasko. Her article discusses the destruction and persecution that occurred during the recent Syrian crisis, as well heart-warming stories of the work of the Franciscans in Israel and Palestine.
