Though not completely finished as a pilgrimage destination, an agreement was signed between The Custody of the Holy Land and the Diocese of Vincenza to open the ancient town of Magdala to pilgrims who would like the use the site as a place of meditation. One of the major commercial areas around Galilee during Jesus’ time, the town was also home to the “First Apostle”, St. Mary Magdala, “from whom seven demons went out”.
