Franciscan Boys Home in Bethlehem
“THE HOME IS NOT JUST THE PLACE WHERE YOU LIVE,
BUT THE PLACE WHERE YOU ARE UNDERSTOOD.”
The Boys Home is located in the city of Bethlehem, only a short distance from the birthplace of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Home was equipped by the Custody of the Holy Land to embrace boys between the ages of 6 and 18, children who were driven into a world of pain and suffering for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons include being orphaned, abandoned, neglected through divorce, drug abuse within their family, physical and emotional abuse and other socioeconomic problems that our Christian Palestinian community faces.
“IT IS ESSENTIAL
TO STATE SOUND STRATEGIES BASED ON EDUCATION
IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE
THE NOBLE GOALS OF THE HOME.”
The Boys Home was established to care for Christian children in need because of serious social, psychological, and economic problems. The Home provides them with a safe and caring shelter where their educational and spiritual needs are met. Here they are afforded with an environment that fosters personal growth, social adaptation, and formation. A spirit of cooperation between medical professionals, clergy, teachers, and specialists helps these boys to become good Christian young men.
The Home operates on the principles of hard work and Christian values: respecting human rights, living in love and practicing repeated forgiveness according to the teaching of Jesus Christ, and the call of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans).
