SUMMER 2021 APPEAL
And let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.
– GALATIANS 6:9
We wish to thank our entire community of supporters for joining our mission to create lasting change. Your sacrificial gifts, despite the economic challenges occurring in the world around us, are changing lives and bringing hope to those who are suffering. Together, we will continue creating change that impact generations to come. Paul urged the Galatian Christians not to grow tired of doing good, and to keep living in a way that is true to what they believe. Those who plant the fruit of the Spirit, by faith in Christ, will be blessed and have eternal life. Your good works are indeed bearing fruit; and for this, we thank you! The Franciscan Boys’ Home, one of many social services run through the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land, is one of FFHL’s programs that is blessed by your generosity. The Boys’ Home, founded in 2007 as an affiliate to Terra Sancta College, seeks to open a new window of hope and a lifeline to a brighter future to boys ages 6-18 years old. The Home is a caring place where community youth who are victims of abuse and neglect can feel safe and cared for.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, the Boys’ Home has played an integral part in meeting basic human needs, along with supporting their community. The boys have alleviated the burden of their neighbors in Jerusalem and Bethlehem who contracted the virus, the elderly who were unable to leave their homes, and others forced to quarantine by providing essential food supplies. They delivered countless boxes of basic necessities such as water, milk, bread, eggs, canned tuna and chicken to people’s doorsteps.
Because of your faithful giving, the Franciscan Boys’ Home was able to contribute back to their own community and bless others in need. Your selfless giving is, indeed, bearing much fruit! We are overwhelmed with gratitude by your generosity. We pray for peace, and ask you to pray for us as we continue doing the Lord’s work in the Holy Land. We humbly welcome your financial gifts, and assure you that every contribution supports our work to preserve the presence of Christianity in the Holy Land. Together, this can be achieved.
Yours in the Spirit of Saint Francis,
Father Peter F. Vasko, OFM, President of FFHL
