(FMC) On Thursday, October 23, in Jerusalem, at the Custody’s Library in Saint Savior’s Monastery, an exhibition of 35 ancient manuscripts was opened to the public. The volumes have been inventoried for the past two years, along with other valuable works, for a total of about 540 manuscripts, dating, for the most part, back to the the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and written in various languages.
The manuscripts are a witness to the presence of the Franciscans in the Holy Land, but also to the coexistence of different communities and cultures that have lived in the country.
During the opening ceremony, Father Pizzaballa, the Custos of the Holy Land, spoke about the importance of cooperation between cultures, noting that “our future lies in our roots.”
