(FMC) In the church of St. Peter on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, Father Pizzaballa, the Custos of the Holy Land, celebrated mass on the feast of the Chair of St. Peter.
In this passage, Jesus asks a question about himself: “What do people say about me?” The Custos remembers the beautiful confession of faith made by Saint Peter: “You are the son of the living God. You are the Messiah.”
The local Christian community participated in the celebration with the friars and the Koinonia John the Baptist community that runs the Sanctuary. The church was purchased by the Franciscans in 1847 and it was restored in 1870. And is the present-day church of St. Peter, on the shores of the lake: a church that is almost hidden away on Lake Tiberias.
