Question: What is 230 feet in diameter, conical in shape, weighs 60,000 tons and is sitting on the floor of the Sea of Galilee?
Figure it out yet? Answer: Scientists have no idea. But they know something is there.
Foxnews.com carried a story this morning about scientists who are trying to raise money to explore the gigantic, stone structure that rests 1,600 feet off of the southwestern shores of the Sea of Galilee.
The circular image was first detected in routine scans of the lake’s bottom in 2003. Exploring the complex underwater structure is difficult, however, because…well… it’s underwater. The Sea of Galilee is clean but not necessarily clear. Divers would have to carefully explore different areas of the enormous stone structure, that is at least 2,000 years old, so as not to stir up too much sediment. In the Sea of Galilee, that isn’t an easy thing to do.
