LET US PRAY

“Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that have received – only what you have given; a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice, and courage.”
-St. Francis of Assisi

Saint Francis of Assisi is one of the most revered religious figures in history. He is remembered for his kindness for the vulnerable, especially poor people, sick people, and animals. Giving up his wealth, St. Francis chose a life of humble poverty in service to those in need and traveled to small villages to preach the gospel. He founded the Order of Friars Minor, known as the Franciscans, in 1209. In 1342, the Franciscans were declared as the official custodians of the Holy Places in the name of the Catholic Church.

St. Francis preached that all people are equal in the eyes of God and that we should live simple lives. He also believed that we should care for nature and all of God’s creatures. In 1224, Francis was proclaimed the patron saint of animals and nature by Pope Gregory IX. He viewed the world as a gift from God, and that the world was therefore not only good, but imbued with our heavenly father himself.

Today, his ministry is the cornerstone of the mission of the Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land (FFHL). Since its founding thirty years ago, FFHL has strived to help our Christian brothers and sisters remain in the land of the Savior. More than ever, Holy Land Christians overwhelmingly struggle to find sustainable employment and affordable housing. Thanks to your generous support, FFHL can provide affordable housing, help Christians gain skills and knowledge necessary to secure jobs and support their families, and provide education to help future generations thrive.

Because of the generosity of our supporters like you, FFHL can provide these essential educational and humanitarian resources to families in need to help stem the exodus from the Holy Land.
